After two days, we are a combined 2-10. Thank goodness for Louisville keeping it close and both teams being incapable of scoring. Let's turn this around and sweep the board!!!
Obviously, Jim Boeheim will say it was an inadvertent punch; he’s not about to lose his best player for the biggest game of the season. It’s the parent we all know that apparently, their child can do no wrong. We now know that Buddy Boeheim has been suspended for this game for his punch on Florida State’s Wyatt Wilkes. Duke won both games this season against the Orange by an average of 22.5 points, and that was with Boeheim. Duke is a nightmare for an undersized team and solely runs a 2-3 zone. As a Duke fan, it terrifies me to pick them, but I have to. It would be disappointing if the Blue Devils won by less than 15. They should run away with this one. I lean under on the total because I’m just not sure if Syracuse can get up to 65. Duke playing on a neutral/road court is the 8th team in defensive efficiency. If you’re able to, A.J. Griffin and Mark Williams player props are always great against Syracuse.
Fool me once; shame on you. Fool me twice; shame on me. Fool me three times, let’s see. Boston College won by five when they were a 10 point underdog to Wake Forest. They are currently the cinderella team of the ACC Tournament, but I think it comes to an end on Thursday. The Hurricanes won the first game they played this year by 11 in Chestnut Hill. Watch out for Miami to come out rusty in the first half after having almost a week of rest while Boston College is clearly comfortable playing in Brooklyn. Fatigue might hit the Eagles in the second half, which scares me and causes me to lean Miami. I would also lean under in this one.
Virginia Tech choked their lead against Clemson, and luckily Darius Maddox showed guts by hitting a game-winning three to keep their tournament hopes alive. I still love how the Hokies played and see no signs of slowing down. This game means a lot more to Virginia Tech than it does for the Fighting Irish. The Hokies also match up fantastic against this Notre Dame roster. Virginia Tech won 79-73 in Blacksburg back in January. I think we see a similar game in Brooklyn on Thursday night. I love the over and would play Virginia Tech +1.
The Cavaliers squeaked out a one-point win against a below-average Louisville team to keep their NCAA Tournament hopes alive. If they’re able to win against the Tar Heels, I think the Wahoos belong in the big dance. North Carolina handled business in Chapel Hill last time these two teams met with a 16 point victory. The Tar Heels are rolling right now, cemented their spot in the NCAA Tournament, and now playing for seeding. This Virginia team lacks talent, but it does have one of the best coaches in college basketball and a desperate team. North Carolina is riding high right now after beating Duke on Coach K night, and this is a great moment to go against the Heels. I would also lean towards the under. It’s difficult for me to see either of these teams hitting 70 points in this one, and North Carolina will need someone outside of Armando Bacot to contribute. If RJ Davis or Caleb Love play up to their potential, then the Tar Heels should be fine, but I am scared to go against a desperate Tony Bennett-coached team.
