ACC Hoops Wednesday Night Picks

I’ve got a few Wednesday night ACC hoops for picks for the people. Lately, I am just 1-1 every night. Every night I’ve picked one dumb pick and one easy winner; it’s never a sweat. But let’s get these picks started. Every night there are ACC games for the rest of the season. I will make picks in every single game and keep my record throughout including the ACC Tournament. Cannot wait to be in Greensboro.

Wake Forest @ NC State -5.5 O/U 156 9:00 pm ACC Network

This is a MASSIVE game for both teams. This game will prove whether Wake is a tournament team or NC State is legit. The Wolfpack is coming off a massive win against the Tar Heels. NC State needs it to help solidify their chances at getting a double-bye in Greensboro, boost their tournament resume, and they’re honoring the 1983 National Championship team.

But Wake needs this one more. Wake is currently on the “Next Four Out or in “Consideration” on most predicted brackets. The Demon Deacons desperately need another Quad 1 win on their resume if they want any shot at the tournament. This is a perfect letdown spot for NC State after their massive win against UNC, and Wake is hungry. I expect the Demon Deacons to come out firing, and I’m backing Steve Forbes and Wake Forest in this one.

Score Prediction: Wake Forest 81 NC State 80

North Carolina -6.5 @ Notre Dame O/U 148.5 9:00 pm ESPN

Talk about another massive game in the ACC. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish this year just flat-out stink, but Mike Brey has kept them frisky. Besides their loss to Wake Forest, they’ve been within two possessions in their last six losses, including a four-point loss at Duke and a two-point loss on Saturday at Virginia.

6.5 points is such a weird number, and I don’t necessarily have a lean on the over. If it’s slow in the first half, I will take a live over, but I’m not comfortable laying the 6.5 either way. Even though this is square, I’m riding with Armando Bacot points and rebounds tonight against the Fighting Irish. Notre Dame struggles with elite bigs as it is, plus Bacot had 21 and 13 when they played earlier this season.

Score Prediction: North Carolina 74 Notre Dame 67

Syracuse @ Clemson -4.5 O/U 145.5

Syracuse is another team outside the bubble looking in that desperately needs a win tonight. Clemson is in free fall, losing four out of their last five games. The Tigers are coming off a humiliating loss at last-place Louisville. This is a tremendous bounce-back opportunity for the Tigers 4.5 may be too many points for a hungry Syracuse team. Also, here’s a tweet from Rothstein that scares me from Clemson.

I’m leaning Syracuse tonight, but I will not make it an official play.

Score Prediction: Syracuse 71 Clemson 75

Virginia -9.5 @ Boston College O/U 126.5

I don’t have much on this game. Virginia has struggled to blowout teams this season in the ACC except when Boston College played the Cavaliers in February, and Virginia won 76-57 and beat NC State by 13. Virginia has yet to win by double digits on the road this season in the ACC, and Boston College is fighting for a potential bye in the ACC Tournament. I think Quentin Post could have a solid game against the Cavaliers, and BC can cover the 9.5 points spread. I expect Virginia to sleepwalk in this one and grind out a 6-point win against BC. The scary thing about backing BC in this game is that if they get blown out by Virginia, you’ll feel very silly, but I’m willing to take that risk.

Score Prediction: Virginia 59 BC 53

Picks:

Wake Forest +5.5

Armando Bacot OVER 17.5 Points

Armando Bacot OVER 11.5 Rebounds

Lean: Syracuse +4.5 (Not Official Play)

Boston College +9.5
