College Basketball Needs 6 Fouls Per Player

People have been complaining about college basketball officiating since the dawn of man. It's never going to change, and it is something that will never be great. The block vs. charge debate will never be figured out, TV Teddy will be dramatic, and dumb calls are inevitable.

How can we fix this?

We fix this by giving players six fouls instead of five. We need to take into account that college basketball refs will have at least one screw-up on fouls; this way, the best players stay on the court.

During the tournament's biggest games, time and time again, the best players have to sit 15 minutes of the first half because they get a questionable second foul. This has to change. If college basketball officiating is not going to improve, then this rule helps mitigate the inevitable screw-ups from college basketball officiating.

Even if officiating is horrific in a game, getting an extra foul gives a lot more wiggle room for players to play loose and more physically. You do not deserve to play if you get six fouls in a 40-minute game, even if the officiating was poor.

This will ultimately help improve the game; along with this rule change, we bump the bonus to eight fouls instead of seven. Less free throws and instant replay is what college basketball needs.
