Nike Sideline Gear Review and Rankings 2020-2024

Every year, Nike releases new gear for their respective upcoming seasons. I love the material all the Nike sideline velocity gear is made of, so by default, I’m ranking that a 9.9/10. However, this article focuses more on the designs of the shirts. I selected shirts specifically from teams that I personally root for. I should mention that the NFL, NBA, and MLB all have different designs, but the NFL and College designs are more similar. I will focus more on those since football is the real start of the sports seasons. Maybe one day I’ll rank the NBA shirts, but those are in their own category.

I’m only able to go back as far as 2020, so I’ll start from there and work my way up to this year’s editions.

2020:

The only shirt I was able to find online was this West Virginia shirt. I think these ones are pretty solid. I managed to find a BYU version of this and liked it well enough. You can tell this design has aged some though.

Final Score: 5.9

2021:

These are my favorite designs by far. Anytime I find a UNC, BYU, or Panthers shirt like this, I will try to buy it ASAP. The logo being so large and prominent makes it much more interesting. These have gotten harder and harder to find, so if you can find one for your team and in your size, snag it fast.

Final Score: 9.5

2022:

I was unimpressed when these shirts originally released, but they’ve grown on me since then. I think because the year before was so good, my expectations were too high. These are still pretty solid, and if you can find them for cheap, they’re worth getting.

Final Score: 6.3

2023:

These shirts are disappointing. There is nothing creative or unique about these designs. You can tell the most minimal amount of effort was put into these shirts. All they did with these shirts was the team name in their respective fonts. No logo or anything. If you can find these in a donation center for free, go ahead and grab one, but don’t spend a dollar on these.

Final Score: 2.4

2023 Alternate:

These should’ve been put forth as the main designs. Only a select number of shirts got this design, and they were specifically for college teams. These are probably my second favorite on this list.

Final Score: 8.1

2024:

These are an improvement from last year’s abomination but still not worth buying. At least they learned from their mistake last year and inserted the logo again. If you can find these in your local Goodwill or on eBay for cheap, they might be worth snagging, but this year is going to be another pass.

Final Score: 3.9

I will likely start reviewing these annually around this time or when they actually release. Future reviews will be shorter and may include a tier template
