The PAC-12 Has Already Been Decided

On August 26th, USC took on San Jose State. Coming into the season, we knew USC would have the same prolific offense that they had last year under Heisman winner Caleb Williams. Although they lost a few receivers, their offense remains explosive, and we saw more of that Saturday. Conversely, my defensive concerns about USC were justified. The Trojans allowed nearly 400 total yards to this SJSU offense, which surpasses SJSU's average yards-per-game from last year.

Take a look at those penalty yards...

Utah hosted Florida last night, and took them down handedly without their starting quarterback. For most of the game, the Utes ran a combination of 2 quarterbacks and this proved to be successful. They kicked the game off with a 70 yard touch down pass, and after this, the game was never really close. Utah's defense did what Utah's defense does, and shut down Graham Mertz and the Gators' offense. No surprise there. I won't even begin to mention the injuries sustained by Utah defensively, but yet they are able to keep Florida to 11 points.

These two teams are top contenders in the Pac-12, and they both had chances to prove themselves Week 1. I understand that seasons and conferences are not decided in week 1 (or week 0), but these two teams told two totally different stories in their first games. It is a really bad day to have been high on USC.

Are you more confident in Utah or USC's potential success after week 0/1?
